It’s not that big a deal for even a normal passenger car to scrape bottom in light fluffy snow like this. Heavy wet glop is a different matter entirely.
Yeah, that's not so bad. I honestly think they did more harm by putting down salt without plowing first. It turns the fluffy snow into a mushy consistency kind of like cake icing that is extremely slippery.

Salt and sand alone just doesn't cut it. Plowing should be a priority.

Marshall Road hill is pure ice, cars sliding down backwards.

Currently -10.7C

Yep, it’s not great out there, very slow going with people getting stuck everywhere.

I was out driving around last night when the snow was first starting. There were salt trucks making numerous rounds up and down Marshall Road, the road was bare and wet. Then it’s as if they sat back expecting the salt to keep the roads clear.

I did see one plow earlier today, so there is at least one person out clearing roads

You nailed it. It actually made it worse. It reminds me of biscuit dough. This would have blown off the road actually if not for the forced melting that made it worse. They need to use sand, I've yet to see ANY sanding anywhere! Total inept incompetent fools.

Seen the Coquitlam plowing trucks throwing down some sand while they are plowing.

It comes down to dollars. Salt is cheap application. Sand is more expensive upfront and there are numerous issues with sand accelerating road wear and clogging storm drains. It can be applied but governments are cutting back on street cleaning these days.

You also have regional officials and the MOT always "assuming" that snowfalls are a 1 day issue which is usually washed away by rain hence the "divestment" of snow removal equipment and infrastructure. The City of Vancouver made this awful assumption in 2016-2017 and it led to 2 months of icy alleyways.

Nice little walk around SFU. Probably the same snow depth as those in the area.

Burnaby Mountain @ 365 m..

Stats? Fresh out of those. But I win anyway. I got all the inches.
