Still on track for a very heavy round of rain tomorrow morning. Will need to dig out the 1-2ft chunks of snow/slush/ice from the side of the street to find the drain later this afternoon.... :tiredos:

It won't go down as a White Christmas in the record books but the kids won't know it when they grow up. ;)
Awesome idea! What a great memory to give your kids.

AbbyJr wrote: Fri Dec 23, 2022 10:47 am I'm becoming more confident that we might avoid a major ice storm. Unfortunately, we also missed out on the modelled snowstorm.

There was just so much warm air associated with this AR. Even with the outflow, my temperature is rapidly warming.

Regardless, this was an awesome winter event. Classic arctic front followed by 30cm of snow followed by a reload of arctic air. These types of setups are rare around here so even though this wasn't a 1996 or 2008 repeat, it's still more than we can expect in our climate.

Merry Christmas everyone! :D
That's the best news. Temps are moderating with passing light showers. A steady stream or heavy rain would have crippled us. Canadians models showed a lot more precip falling. Temps SHOULD be above 0 before the heavy rain comes in.

I ploughed a small section of my garden path just to see what the ZR would do...here it is. Solid glaze.

Made the same comment to a retired friend who hates the Patullo. I work on Annacis Island so stuck if all bridges closed.

As the twitter post indicated above, we had freezing rain in Parksville @-3c. The nice dry snow turned into gruesome sadness. Ironically, the ploughed roads were the most slick. Off to clean downspouts..

The Canadian models busted big time in overdoing the precipitation rates and underestimating the warm air aloft.

It's still falling as frozen ice pellets. Dunno, but it works for me. :D
