I see a few +2s and +3s in North Vancouver and near False Creek.

I'd say it's the worst icing event in Metro Vancouver since January 2004. Could even be since December 1996 for some spots.

The freezing rain has caused a branch to come down across my weather station sensor. I don't think it's affecting my readings but I'll have to remove the branch regardless. However, I'm not sure if the branch is broken or just bent down due to the weight of the ice.

Anyways, here are some photos of the icing at our place.

Terrible memory for dates but I believe 2004 was the other one I remember as we lost power but the pizza place a block away had power so had a treacherous walk to get there. Not much or any snow cover if I remember.

It was a decent cold snap. Last time YVR dropped to -10c in January incidentally.

Think we had about 10cm of snow cover here prior to the overrunning event that dropped around 20cm, followed by the freezing rain event.

Yeah, nice event TIP's, didn't we have some snow just before Dec, 31st 2003 and then the Arctic air moved in just after New Years?

Watching this closely. Would not be surprised if some locations see 2 meters of snow fall with 3-4 meter drifts consuming homes.

Christmas is pretty much cancelled there and power will probably take days to restore in some locations.
