Decline in proper parenting isn't a partisan political problem so much as one symptom of a deeper issue. We need society to pull together or it doesn't work. People splashing each other is just another sign of it not working.

It is semi relevant to weather like this in terms of human behaviour but probably not enough to go into a deep discussion here. I also think it's tough to redirect these things into those smaller threads as participation is sparse in the general discussion thread, except for maybe sports and gas prices.
Todays societal downfalls isn’t about traditional left/right issues, but stems from something much larger.
There was never this divide in the past.

Unfortunately years of latch key parenting and participation ribbon schooling has ultimately led to this.
Furthermore, not providing newcomers with essentially a guidebook of societal norms, for lack of a better term, has further exacerbated this. Let alone with the massive wedge that covid, via our virtue toting politicians, has even further divided our society and led to general disdain and distrust in one another…

But I digress…

This is why we need the resources for the city to do this. Up in Prince George all the sidewalks are plowed by the city. The whole bylaw thing doesn't work. Why are only roads plowed and not the entire public infrastructure? Imagine if we made homeowners clear the roads as well?
[/quote
When they city plows onto the sidewalk and then leaves it it is beyond many homeowners ability to clear. Because.we don't get these events often can't see cities investing more funds.

One other thing I think many are writing off the remainder of winter way too early. Trends can change quickly.

Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays to all. ( Except all you bad parents )

The roads and sidewalks are horrible here. Major flooding everywhere and very difficult to walk through. I've never seen it this bad.

Just drove home from Christmas dinner. The roads were beginning to freeze up. A bit slick but you could see it was icy, as they had a frosty sparkle on them. Plow finally made it down our street for the first time today. Went out to do some last minute shopping and came home to a 2ft snow bank across my driveway. Had to clear it in the pouring rain before I could park.

PV has been pretty weak and looks like it might take a pretty big hit in early January. I’d bet a significant cold wave heads south later in January. Maybe not a direct hit here as it’s too soon to say.

Just finished walking the dog, no freezing here as foggy and plus 4. Made for a much easier walk than last night.
