Actually more than happy ski hills will score. l remember last year we went from that awesome winter event to a little Arctic reload in early Jan. and some snow, before the rest of January settled into a fart fest of mundane dullsville, l remember the model watching was absolutely sick.
I'm afraid it looks similar this January unfortunately.IMO

The deaths were entirely preventable. Highway 97C and Highway 3 should have been closed yesterday and the fact Highway 3 is open right now is a complete joke and shows how this province operates.

The roads were plowed and sanded over but there were slabs of ice along the entire stretch with freezing rain falling throughout the day. Sand gives you traction over compact snow and slush but it will not matter one bit over pure solid ice.

The province continues to get a failing grade when it comes to their handling of extreme weather, HOWEVER...

At some point the bus company has to take responsibility for the safety of its passengers and say nope. I mean I believe EBus has been amazing in the absence of Greyhound but driving in those conditions seems like a fatal mistake. This could cause major policy changes in how busses are allowed to operate. I also wouldn't be surprised if EBus gets sued out of business which would suck for a lot of people but I really couldn't blame any victims for doing it.

Sucks all around.

Just dropping this here even though it's Christmas. Anyone paying attention to the deep low modeled off the WA coast Tuesday? If it trends just a little bit north we're in for a big wind event.

Many more white Christmases over that period of record in most of Metro Vancouver compared with YVR.

I put this outside Thursday afternoon before the storm... 83.7 mm. I'm guessing about 14 mm was snow/ice pellets. The rest was probably half freezing rain and half regular rain.

13 cm of snow remaining.

I think we will probably see SE 90-100km winds along the strait. And although we will see scattered power outages, with the current track and the Low filling before landfall, it’s most likely we avoid a major power outage event.

Yeah it fills then sorta stalls and dives SE. Not a track for a major windstorm. Probably for the best given recent events, but with our luck I can see a strong low curling more poleward than expected and then kaboom.
