I'm enjoying this warmth. It always looks so ugly on the models but in practice, after having that brutal cold snap...I'm good with this for a bit.

48 confirmed dead on the east coast last I read. Probably just going up as the snow clears. Quite a deadly weather event.

I agree Kells at some point a reset was inevitable so l'm good with it.
We all know deep down that re load after re load just doesn't happen here.

Other than 2016. Which was insane and awesome. I liked this one though. It was powerful, sharp, to the point, then gtfo in a hurry. Then again, around here we will take cold snaps any way we can get them.

Interior BC in the snow is like nothing else. Rugged and breathtakingly beautiful. I miss it at times, not so much the extreme -30 windchill though.

It's unfortunate that the pacific got so active and we did not see a SE ridge. Otherwise, my guess is that the cold would have lasted longer. Usually our longer duration cold snaps occur when there is less activity in the pacific. November 1985 was insane in terms of duration. The arctic air locked in for 15 days! Unfortunately, it was very dry so not much snow. That's likely why the pattern was able to stay locked in so long. Less activity to cut off the GOA block. December 2008 was a dream because we kept getting hit with those inside sliders, which didn't end up undercutting the ridge but also provided the moisture needed for snow. The cold locked in for 2 weeks and it was very snowy. I'm still waiting to see a repeat of that but who knows if I will before I move to Ottawa in 3 years. But at that point it won't matter because I'll have plenty of cold and snow to enjoy there. :D :flakey:
