Simply insane gradients across the metro area this morning. A friend who lives on a boat in Richmond reports only 3 cm.

Felt a little silly forecasting 15 cm at YVR yet 24 cm IMBY yesterday morning but model guidance was hinting that proximity to water and low elevation was really going to hurt their totals with this one. Turns out models (and I) underestimated just how much.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Somewhere between 12 and 15 cm here. Sun is out, wind is blowing, and huge chunks of snow/snow bombs are falling from the trees. Almost dangerous. Will wait a bit before heading out to shovel.

I’ll go with 34cm as my measurement too. Starting to compact so maybe it was 35cm who knows. Snow finally stopped and sun is poking out behind the fog. Icicles just starting to drip slowly so must have just popped above 0.0.
Elevation sounded like it made a 5-8 cm difference by the sounds of it, locally speaking.

Stats? Fresh out of those. But I win anyway. I got all the inches.

Surprises to see ice on the inlet. Or rather I am surprised to see it so obvious when we’ve had much longer and colder spells and don’t recall noticing.

Too warm for ice. Must be snow collection. Can’t believe it would be ice as it has to be below -7 for that.

PortKells wrote: Sun Feb 26, 2023 7:54 am Just measured 25 cm. Feels like it was probably more before compaction, it's concrete out there. 6 more cm to 100
They say a cubic metre of snow weighs between 50 and 200 kg (fresh vs compact).

I moved about 18 cubic metres of snow this morning by a rough calculation:
0.6m wide x 0.15m deep on average x 200 metres (my corner lot and my senior neighbour's side street)

That means I moved between 900kg and 3.6 metric tonnes of snow this morning, probably leaning more on the high side due to the compactness of this snow! And so did a lot of you!
2025-26 season stats:
Climo :cancel: ∞ to 0.5 :14clown: GFS

Season total: 0.5 cm and TWO traces!
Peak depth: 0.5 cm (01/07/2026)

My guess would be that it is just slush from snow which fell last night into a layer of fresh water that is floating atop the denser salt water.
