gonna be some scary black ice tonight and tomorrow morning. so much melting the roads and sidewalks are so wet

Temperature is already plummeting. Despite the melting and compaction, still have 15–20 cm on the ground in most places. It was heavy and dense to start with, is now even more so, and is about to freeze solid under the mostly-clear skies. Couple that with the modelled refresher snowfalls and it is safe to say the ground here will be snow-covered until some time in March.

The snow was around 30cm deep up at Burnaby Mountain on the sledding hill. There was almost too much snow to get a good toboggan run going. We ended up playing in the snow more than tobogganing. Hopefully our outing didn't cost my son some sickness recovery. He was felling pretty cold up there. It was super busy, I ended up parking in the SFU parkade and walking over.

HRDPS, ECMWF, GFS, and GEM all say a light refresher snowfall is coming later tonight. HRRR doesn’t go out until daybreak but hints at it as well. It’s happening. Add that to all the refreezing and tomorrow morning’s commute is shaping up to be a mess.
