Really hard to measure this one. I might just say a cm and call it a day.

Re: February 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
I was just getting caught up on this convo from the other day. The only time I would clear the snow board more than 2 times a day would be if it was a very marginal situation and the snow was accumulating sporadically and melting in between.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:45 am The standard seems to be once every 6 hours. So Typer's total is definitely high, and mine is low. I could/should have cleared my board at midnight. Oh well.

Re: February 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
Yeah there's definitely 2 cm here.
I just went out to measure total snow depth and there's clearly a much softer, newer layer before I hit an icy wall that I have to force the ruler through. That soft layer is almost exactly 2 cm thick in several probings.
Total depth is 10 cm, no no net loss today. I guess this afternoon gave me some maintenance snow.

Someone should tell Abbotsford how to measure. If I am 5km North of it and get 23.5 and a friend measure 22 3km East and another measures 24 10km NE, how come the total is only 19.3cm?

Komo
The next batch of sea-level snow materializes tonight as a cold storm moves inland, spreading moisture into sub-freezing air after midnight. Much of Puget Sound will be in light snow Tuesday morning, with the greatest potential of 2-3 staying north of Seattle through the Skagit Valley. Higher snow totals are possible near the foothills of Snohomish & King County where as much as 4-6 inches could accumulate.
Wednesday morning will be the coldest of the week, with lows in the 20s under a clearing sky, easily icing up any residual slush on sidewalks and city side streets. But the strong March sun on Wednesday will help to melt the ice and improve road conditions throughout the day.
Next storm could briefly start as light snow early Thursday morning before transitioning to a chilly rain across the lowlands. Whereas, the Cascade passes will be impacted by heavy snow on Thursday, tallying 5-10 inches by Friday.
Showers will be ongoing this weekend as a storm stalls offshore, keeping the chance of more lowland snowflake sightings Saturday night.

Re: February 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
Changed back to all snow then ended. Models indicate there won’t be significant additional moisture until after midnight.
4–8 cm in areas away from the water is my best guess. Goofus says a lot more, but it’s the Goofus.

Decent flurry passing through right now. Paved surfaces slushing up. Pretty fluffy flakes actually.

Re: February 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
Same here. Guess I spoke too soon about it winding up. Almost looks like a snow band is forming and tracking from south to north, hitting western areas. Hmmm…VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 7:02 pm Decent flurry passing through right now. Paved surfaces slushing up. Pretty fluffy flakes actually.
