Sadly all too typical that Newton has bare lawns on south facing side when Fleetwood has snow in the sun and the shade still.

Hound wrote: Thu Mar 02, 2023 7:07 pm A devastating day for snow cover today.
From South Surrey to Fleetwood the snow has been destroyed.
Only North of Fraser Highway does the snow pack start to build. The further north you travel the deeper it gets and the better coverage you get including still snow on rooftops, especially in my area, although southern facing rooftops have almost lost all their snow but northern rooftops still have a good chunk left. North of 96 Ave has the best coverage, and then North of Hwy 1 tops it off at the most..

Current temp is 4.2
DP: -1

Perhaps too many Graham tweets this winter Van man definitely time for spring to appear.

Cold rain for the  belt... maybe some snow at higher elevations later today!
4:47 AM PST Friday 03 March 2023
Snowfall warning in effect for:

Metro Vancouver - North Shore including West Vancouver and North Vancouver
Metro Vancouver - northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge
Potential snowfall accumulation over higher terrain.

When: Late this afternoon until overnight tonight.

Where: Higher terrain over North Vancouver.

Snowfall accumulation: 5 to 10 cm.

Impacts: Poor travel conditions due to localised pockets of heavy snow flurries.

Remarks: A Pacific frontal system approaching the south coast will produce snow over higher terrain. With cool temperatures already in place, snow levels should drop to 150 to 300 metres late this afternoon depending on precipitation intensity. Snow will be heaviest late this afternoon and evening before tapering off to periods of light snow after midnight.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

:alert:
Still a solid 5 to 6" of snow on the ground here. Even in the sunny areas pretty much. Snow cover was just too deep to melt away quickly here. May hang tuf for a bit longer if we score here overnight again.
I lost count of how many days there has been snow cover on the ground here but it's been almost a week of all white I think

925 mbar temps cold enough for low level snow at 1:00 AM tomorrow morning. But then they warm.

It's days like these which always makes me wonder why storm cells disproportionately favour Eastern Metro. Is it the surrounding geography? Is it something in the atmosphere?

Days like yesterday, too. Eastern areas got some thunder and lightning.

At least the eastern areas don’t always win. There have been some west-focused events this winter.
It's called clown range for a reason.
