Definitely concerning how the drought holds probably into October now. Smaller watersheds like the Sunshine Coast are being impacted.

At times yes, other times there were decent discussions to be had. It's been tense partially because the fire situation got so out of control again and that is a key ingredient to bring up a naturally heated discussion in which people are diametrically opposed and never going to budge no matter what. Seems like the fires were a good metaphor for our forum, lol...its calmed down but its still smoldering.

High/low of 1.2c/-5.9c with 2.2cm of snow recorded late that night at YVR and 7cm in Port Moody. :flakey:
Wow! That would of been amazing to experience.

I'm hoping the storm train picks up somewhat in October. In the early 2000s, we were on a dug well for our water supply. I remember times like I think it was 2002-2003 or something around then where we had to be careful with how much water we were using/drinking because it was very close to the bottom, and then around November the rains started picking up greatly. Eventually we got a drilled well so we didn't need to worry anymore but it was nip and tuck during the Falls of El Ninos sometimes.

I won't lie. The one time I do like warm temperatures is this time of year. I can enjoy it because of the cooler nights. It just doesn't feel as hot compared to July or August. Way more enjoyable !

Would be really concerned if we go into November without much rain, and El nino starts rearing its head. Could be a disaster, but I'm hoping for the best.

I could wax much longer, but I’ll say this: society has lost the art of disagreement. I have, I’ll admit. To counter that, it’s healthy to disagree. When disagreement comes in these times, censorship and cancellation is the primary impulse. People fear been cancelled for bucking dominant narratives. (Interesting that those that came from the former Eastern Bloc or some other communist hell holes observe the totalitarian precursors here: people afraid to speak against a dominant narrative without serious ramifications to their lives, and governments micromanaging lives). The words of the creator of, narrator of, and writer of almost 1/2 the Twilight Zone episode are needed in these times. Mr Serlings insight into human nature remain unmatched from anyone in Hollyweird.

If differences smoulder here—good! With policies from a stooge like Guilbeault—whatever side of the debate you land on—it will radically alter energy and transportation in the next 10 years. That is worth arguing about here as they are policies rooted in weather. (I noticed politicians/activists/media stopped differentiating climate and weather, so I’ll argue on the basis of weather). The fact that a hiccup in the weather and climate produces political response or a wanted heavy-handed political response from some clearly indicates the two are intertwined. At the risk of arrogance, it’s not people like me that made that unholy matrimony. We’re called out, however, for saying the quiet part out loud. Or, on here it’s called been off topic. I can respect that to a degree. But I noticed a few catastrophizing, political memes the evening the fire jumped the lake. That’s on topic?! How about equal weights n’ measures: if catastropizing weather events is allowed here—and it should be—so should counter narratives without a concern of reprisal.

Interesting Mr. DoorMatt anyone have thoughts on Meta blocking Canadian news on their platforms due to bill C-18. seems excessive to me.
