About a January 1950 event, it will come back... one day. For sure.
Some day...

It always snows in December in the Kootenays

Yeah, but with climate change Jan 1950 would have to be even a more special event than 1950. I am guessing it would be impossible with the arctic ice situation the way it is. The trend is not our friend. You can see that the trend of cold periods is not as cold as they used to be. The chart is the month and the average temperature in negative degrees C mean monthly temperature for Aggaziz.

Yes, I know that. But I think a very cold month is still possible in Vancouver.

You know, I have lived in Quebec City from 2008 to 2018 and the winters [Nov. to March] (from 2010 to 2013) were very warm. With my friends there we thought winters will never be the same (than 'before').

And after that, we had Dec. 2013, March 2014 (very cold!), Jan. 2015, Feb. 2015 (extraordinary month), March 2015, and the last winter was very long and also very cold. This Nov. will be the coldest since 1940 in Montreal and Quebec City.

Trend is not their friend out there. But here too, a very cold month will come back, one day...

PS: Here is the data of my (old) station North of Quebec City, in Feb. 2015: https://www.infoclimat.fr/climatologie- ... uport.html

If anyone was paying attention the SWS mentions that the actual Arctic air wouldn't arrive until tonight. Could have fooled me.
