Had an adventure. Got about 2.5 cm here in the past hour. Will post more once my fingers thaw.
It's called clown range for a reason.

4cm so far. Heavier snow has tapered to flurries now.

Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
I have to say, I'm not feeling this one. The temperature decline has been less than forecast and certainly less than impressive, and we are still without any real cloud cover. Goes to show how sectionalized the south coast us and how inconsistent the weather is.

Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
We rarely get snow at our place during these types of events - always the least in the area (E. Abbotsford). It's very cold and windy, alas no snow...

Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
This has actually been one of the most impressive temperature falls that I can recall. YVR has so far lost 8.3C in just under 5 hours and it seems like there's another maybe 8C to go.

Certainly not a farctic outbreak. This one's got some teeth.VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 4:00 pm This has actually been one of the most impressive temperature falls that I can recall. YVR has so far lost 8.3C in just under 5 hours and it seems like there's another maybe 8C to go.

Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
So, around 2:30 I was getting impatient for the good stuff to get to MBY, so I bundled up, got on my bike, and started pedaling north and east towards the darkest clouds I could see.
Just light flurries until I crossed Broadway, then light snow. A little heavier up at the top of the hill near Napier, and quite a bit heavier once I got within a few blocks of Hastings. Then I head east. Suddenly, BAM! Dumpity-dump-dump-dumping! And gloomy; it felt like dusk.
At that point, the streets were white and I was making tracks. I had decided to ride until I made tracks then turn around, but I pushed on. Past Renfrew it got hilly and I didn't feel like pressing my luck on such terrain so I turned around.
And of course I made tracks all the way home. The tires I bought a few weeks ago have excellent traction in light snow (I deliberately selected ones with a bit more tread than normal road tires for just this reason).
Just measured 3 cm, which is probably all I will get, because that’s about what the models said I would get.
Not as good as a big dump of 20+ cm, but beats nothing. Call it a consolation snowfall.

Maybe I can go to Hound or AbbyJr's lawn instead.
