Still getting moderate snow here but only around 2.5cm of accumulation so far. Had it been colder, I'd easily be over 5cm.

Currently 0.1C with the dew point holding at -2C.

10cm on Cypress this evening. The models are showing 250mm of precipitation between now and Sunday for the mountains, mostly snow of course except for tomorrow.

Abby_wx wrote: Tue Feb 27, 2024 9:16 pm Yeah, these conditions are a good test for accuracy. Temp usually seems to hover right near freezing when it's borderline like this.

Mine is bouncing between 0.0C and -0.1C... seems about right. The nearest station to me is showing -0.5C, which doesn't seem right since the snow is pretty slushy, but who knows.
I'm wondering if the air temp is that cold and the snow is melting due to daytime heating of the ground. After all it was mostly above zero lately and it did get up to 4 or 5 before it started snowing. That or somehow there is some evaporative cooling on the sensor somehow due to humidity factors.

Also the temps between my two stations are rock solid like you said for movement. So we know there isn't much changing in the temp. Direction of wind maybe as mine is coming from higher ground without much developed area? I have almost 5cm now on the grass.
