Lots of cold air. No signs of this retreating poleward. All models continue to present west coast ridging returning with a SSW event shifting that PV southward by the 7-10 day mark. This is the precurser to a bitter cold snap in the lower 48. Those suckers in the Plains and Great Lakes will see little reprieve from the cold.
I can see that west coast block slowly retrograding west into the GOA and over the Aleutians by late month. Could set us up for an interesting new year. Combined with the return of a -NAO, the PV would be forced westward towards the NWT.
