They think the winter of 08-09 is an analogue? Hope so, it was a great one!

One of the best winters I've experienced since moving here in 2004. :D

4 in a row (5 counting my last winter in Bellingham) featuring a 20+ cm snow event? That would be a personal best for me, and I've lived in some snowy climates (even in the latter, dud winters happen).

Bring it, I'm ready. Just slapped on a brand new set of all season Uniroyal Tiger Paws on my Honda Pilot, replacing the 7 yr old General Altimax 43's which served me well for 72,000k's. What I didn't know was that they recommend replacing tires after 6 yrs, even if there's lots of tread left.
I don't bother with winter tires as I never go on the sea to sky or coq highways during winter. Over the years I've mainly had front wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicles and have never had problems driving in the snow with all seasons.

Would be nice. :wish:

We got very lucky this past winter with the January arctic blast and snowfall. It's very rare to see such an intense cold snap and snowfall in an El Niño. The Sudden Stratospheric Warming worked out in our favour and prevented a total dud winter, which I and many had initially expected.

When we went to Kelowna for Christmas in December’21 in our Griswold Family Truckster (aka 2019 Grand Caravan), we didn’t have winters on it. That’s when the Coq was damaged and we had to take the hopeless-Princeton as that Arctic front was bearing down. It performed beautifully with all the fandangled traction technology. Any snowfall I always test my vehicle’s limits on a quiet street. With the van I can’t have a bit of fun in a parking lot.

I will say this, however: even with winters on, I find salting on the Coq & Connector to be dangerous. The salting is uneven, and it creates slush on part of the highway. Slush, especially on part of the highway yanks the vehicle. Had some close calls even with winters on the van. Driving when the highway is an entire glazed ice rink is safer as the highway surface is uniform.

Rather wet since yesterday afternoon and troffy short term incoming. Will we get one final warm ridging event this month
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++ 8-)

I agree with the slushy and bumpy roads due to uneven surfaces levels. But premium quality snows are a must on the Coq for sure. I travel it often and new Nokians are the best

Yes, rubber ages and gradually loses its traction. I don’t drive a whole lot, and this is why I never buy the best (longest guarantee) tires. Won’t be able to safely put sort of distance on them anyhow, so why pay for quality I won’t use?
