The following was reported from Fox News today:
Second, you will have to pry the King's portrait out of this royalist's cold, dead hands.
GOD SAVE THE KING (OF CANADA)!
First off, that 100 billion is a gross exaggeration and he knows it.Trudeau told Trump he cannot levy the tariff because it would kill the Canadian economy completely. Trump replied – asking, so your country can't survive unless it's ripping off the U.S. to the tune of $100 billion?
Trump then suggested to Trudeau that Canada become the 51st state, which caused the prime minister and others to laugh nervously, sources told Fox News.
Second, you will have to pry the King's portrait out of this royalist's cold, dead hands.

Re: Politics
Wasn't he elected in the most recent federal election? I would expect things to change after an election given the polls. As of now it seems he's got the confidence of parliament.

That's surprising he still has the confidence of the house.

Singh dragging this as long as possible so he can get his 5 years in ,to collect his government MP pension, which by the way has got to be one of the biggest legalized scams in the country.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 8:45 pm That's surprising he still has the confidence of the house.![]()
Pretty boy Justin's days are numbered. Who would even want to take over the liberal train wreck? Either way the liberals need to be totally annihilated next time at the polls, as well as Jagmeet and his ndp for enabling Trudeau. Through all his scandals and incompetence, how was he able to hoodwink people for 3 straight elections I'll never know. So Harper got ousted for this? For someone who is an absolute disgrace whenever he speaks? Trudeau will go down in history as one of the worst PMs and Harper one of the best. Time to steer this ship back to the right before it sinks.

Re: Politics
What Trump is saying has some harsh truth to it. Our economy has been essentially run out of DC since the 1980s and 1990s when Mulroney and Chretien sold out the last vestiges of our economic independence opening up entirely to neoliberal policy and signed on to disastrous "free" trade deals like NAFTA.
Of course, other issues stem much further back. Canada should have had its own nuclear program and shouldn't have ever gotten rid of other deterrents like the Avro Arrow. Instead, we're stuck buying second and third rate military equipment off our southern neighbours for exorbitant prices.
Nothing of note is owned or manufactured in Canada, by Canadians, by a Canadian corporation or by the Canadian government anymore. All our most prized national assets have been gradually sold off. And this is an alarming reality that receives no coverage by our political class. Where is the investigative journalism? It is truly a mystery.

Re: Politics
Whatever your personal opinion of the Liberals is, Canada is unofficially officially heading into an election in early 2025. Jagmeet Singh today promised that he would vote non confidence against the Liberals.

Re: Politics
Sure hope so. After looking foolish in a CTV interview, he probably thought long and hard about what his best option is to get re-elected. If most Canadians want an election ASAP ,one person can't hold the country hostage for another year and tell everyone he knows what's best, without looking irresponsible and arrogant. It might not be the best thing, but I really hope the liberals and ndp get obliterated in the next election.stuffradio wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 10:26 am Whatever your personal opinion of the Liberals is, Canada is unofficially officially heading into an election in early 2025. Edit: Nevermind, it was/is for purely selfish reasons

For me, Trudeau's failings don't absolve Harpers' in any way. I dinstinctly remember his divisiveness in those years and how little he respected the people who weren't in favour of him. He also didn't stand up for us on an international stage in any meaningful way.Forrest Gump wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2024 11:38 pm Singh dragging this as long as possible so he can get his 5 years in ,to collect his government MP pension, which by the way has got to be one of the biggest legalized scams in the country.

Steering it to the right is going to happen but I suspect we will still sink.

Re: Politics
There is no perfect leader/government. I'll take Harper's warts over Trudeau's serial scandals, corruption, and woke nonsense all day long. And according to alot of recent comments so would many others, who admit they switched from Harper to Trudeau in 2015 and deeply regret it, saying they'll never vote liberal again. Doubt they'll even consider Singh and the non democratic party either, even party members wrote a letter to Singh urging him to stop propping up and enabling the worst government in the history of Canada. And then you have a prominent canadian businessman willing to fund Singh's pension in return for an early election, lol, can't make this stuff up.PortKells wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 10:19 pm For me, Trudeau's failings don't absolve Harpers' in any way.
