It's really interesting how much earlier the temperature starts rising in the West than in the east. Montreal doesn't get its peak cold until the 30th of January for example.

It used to be later here but January averages have warmed a lot more in the past 50 years when compared with December.

Unfortunately, Januaries in the 2000's have lacked a strong -PNA pattern unlike what was seen in the 50's and 60's. :x :bang:

last feb worked out ok here, in the end. we had some cold, some snow and it was cold enough in the shade, that it lasted a week. I'd take that.

Model runs tonight killed any idea of amplified ridging over the West Coast.

More cloudy mild drippy damp weather with a split flow or dirty ridging the next 16 days.

I cannot wait for Spring.

The lawn is overgrown with moss and is heavily waterlogged. Every wood surface is seeing accelerated rot since we haven't been able to dry out as well.

This +7C rain is the worst.

I suppose M1 but the winter dynamics wanes here in February l always believe that after January 15th its the beginning of our end of winter unless we get a rare early February blast like February 2017 or a rare February 2019. :D It always amazes me how the east is just as cold in February as it is in December and January l would love that.
