Winter started on December 21.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 1:28 pm That ship sailed long ago. YVR recorded 4cm of snow on Nov 19th.
The record is definitely dubious given most of the region recorded a trace and up to 2cm, however even a trace will save us from breaking any records. Vancouver has never had any calendar years without at least a trace of snow in recorded history.

Ah, if we're going by astronomical winter then YVR likely has recorded a few.

JMA has the Alaska ridge further west in a weeks time which sends a lot more cold air west of the Rockies.

1000% wrong, no question about that. It's a T (trace) in my books.

Yearly snowfall doesn't make sense. I prefer seasonal snowfall (Nov. to Apr.).

For seasonal stats, the record is a T (trace) in 1957-58 and 1991-92. Then 0.3 cm in 1944-45.

Yep, even when using calendar year stats, the record low is a trace.Canada Goose wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:49 pm For seasonal stats, the record is a T (trace) in 1957-58 and 1991-92. Then 0.3 cm in 1944-45.

Re: January 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
Ah, last January, when everyone had such low expectations because of El Niño.
Then came the severe arctic blast. Then came the sloppy marginal overrunning event in the models. Then, within the final 24 hours, the low went south a bit and it became a solidly snowy overrunning event. I made the following prediction:

And it busted low.
