Re: January 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
This is Saturday morning at 10am LCL time. Decent shower moving through with 850mb temps between -6 and -7, 925mb temps of -2, so it could definitely deliver snow to some areas.
As the Catman would say, #surprises.

Yeah this is getting kind of nuts.
Vancouver is on a roll in terms of PNW snow winners. Not sure how common it is historically to be constantly beating up on our southern neighbours but I'm here for every last salty tear.

Re: January 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
I will also add that this looks increasingly likely to be that elusive long lasting event of 8-10 days or more. What snow we get could be on the ground for 2+ weeks. Ensembles absolutely caved in that direction this morning and the GFS is piling up its wins right now. Theres supposed to be a SSW too so that could send some seriously cold air masses this way if the -PNA holds.
Feb 2025 has potential to be a memorable one. We will forget the rest of this dreadful winter very quickly.

Re: January 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
Crazy that it might by our fourth winter in a row with a 25+ cm (10+ inch) snowfall.
A lot of AF weenies will be turning very green with envy if I can report totals like that down there.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Agreed. For what its worth, the 12Z Euro splits the Polar Vortex in the clown range:PortKells wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 12:55 pm I will also add that this looks increasingly likely to be that elusive long lasting event of 8-10 days or more. Re: January 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
This dream scenario is actually plausible: A front loaded dump of snow here, a bunch of chilly days/nights, another slider next weekend followed by a brief warmup. Block reorganizes and sends a splilt polar vortex our way and gives us record breaking cold with more snow opportunities, ending off with a massive overrunning event to send us into spring fat and happy.
Nito is officially converted to a winter weather fan.

It's nice to see this forum active again. Apparently the latest model trends have woken everyone up from their boring winter hibernation.
