Quite a few splats around the higher hills in Coquitlam…not expecting much… but thankfully tonight is just a bonus. We have the weekend to look forward to.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 7:58 pm +4C with moderate rain. Temps near 0C at 925mb. Maybe some slush at best up on SFU?

It's interesting to see even the GFS is picking up on a snow zone in Western Metro Vancouver on Sunday. Very similar to what the meso models are showing. Convergence zone? Surface low?

Last time I checked the SFU webcams it looked like slushy rain up there. 3.1˚C here, which strikes me as a little too warm for it to be snowing at SFU.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Re: January 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
I think models were orginally depicting organized convective bands before. We are looking at an arctic meso-low (cold surface low) or upper level convergence fueling a narrow snow zone. Burnaby is in a very good spot. Further Eastern areas are not as outflow kicks up Sun afternoon.Cloverdale wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 8:16 pm Donut hole getting bigger.
