12Z GEM is out. 5–15 cm most areas, and it's the driest of the {Euro, GEM, GFS} set. This merits a snowfall warning.

Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 7:53 am Right now I’m going with 10–20 cm in Vancouver proper tomorrow. 25–50 cm in Abbotsford. They really look to get walloped out there.

Not a whole lot anywhere during the day today. 5 cm max.
Agreed. I'm just not willing to ignore the Euro even though the most extreme totals its showing may be overdone. Likely a big snowstorm. :silent:

Not trying to sow panic but the HRDPS is not picking up on the heavy snow signal that the other models are. The Nam is a garbage model but it's dry as well. Hopefully it's all just noise.

I still think the Euro is locked into a solution and the others are playing catch up:

EC forecast looks solid. A few flurries today..possibly heavy at times in the lucky spots with main event tonight. 3 to 4" of snow on the ground by Tuesday would be nice.

Nito.. you still calling for tr to 2cm in valley today?

Encouraging trends this morning.

Now to wait a couple hours and see if the 12Z Euro still shows Pepto pink for Vancouver. If it does, it will look like the backing off on snow amounts from yesterday is itself being backed off from.

It's still filling in at this time but pretty underwhelming.

To be clear, I'm not betting against the Euro. But there's some reason for pause. The Gem has frankly never been as convinced on this as a huge event, and the HRDPS is reflecting that now in the micro details.

Global models are all showing copious amounts of snow. 10-30cm.

Mesoscale models suggest less organized band development and more scattered precip. 2-15cm

It will be interesting to see which models win out. My guess is we are going to see more scattered precip and a regional event is unlikely.
