iirc, the late 70s and 80s were super solid too. I experienced it. Some amazing stretches of cold/snowy. Things went downhill in the 90's, 2000's and ever since, barring some decent events of course
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++ 8-)

ECs 5am forecast mentions snow beginning early this morning. Where? 2-4cm? Looks bone dry on radar atm.

Obviously you don't recall 96, 08 amongst other decent winters in the 90's and 2000's.

I see showers are continuing to march down the Strait towards Vancouver this morning.

And continuing to disintegrate right before they reach the city.

Based on radar echoes, I thought @Michael1 might be getting a dumping this morning.

He’s scoring some flakes, but nothing I would call a “dumping.”

There's always some subjectivity involved, but I didn't think the 80's were very good for snow, except for maybe the early part of the decade. The 80's did feature some notable cold events, but there was quite a snow drought during the late 80's in particular. The 90's were pretty much great except for a few stinkers (1992, 1997) and then 1999 through 2005 was basically trash with a handful of decent events, but overall quite poor. The 2000's as a whole were not good, but people tend to focus on the 2006-08 period which was pretty stellar.
