This stretch bumps the winter up to a solid C- for me. Below-freezing stretch and snow that stuck around, which is more than can be said for lots of other years. Really could have been better if the low last Wednesday had just trended 50 km north or so. Using a much tougher grading system than some of the poor saps in the AF who lose their minds over a slushy inch that melts in the daytime light. Sorry, it can't be a decent winter if it only starts in February.
Well said and i agree. Winter starting Feb 1 kinda sucks
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++ 8-)

I saw a few flakes today too. Still flaking now..but so sparse. Oddly, EC said flurries ending after noon..but thats when i saw the flakes..nothing all night and all morning. Weird.
I love the unpredictability of the troff!! 8-)

Go get your ski fix before it's too late.
After day 5 its a crapshoot Nito. Chances are slim imo, that we see any extended period of very mild rains. But we will see

Chilly low elevation rains and mountain snows wouldn't surprise me in March. But I'd be shocked to see any notable cold and low elevations snows.

Big fail from the HRDPS and RGEM on the surface details for today. My high today was 0.9C and YXX as far as I can tell has only reached 0.6C.

Confidence in Thursday and Friday very low. Model solutions are
very inconsistent and the ensembles are not much help. There is a
general consensus that the chances for precipitation increase
especially Friday but how the pattern evolves is up for debate.
The ECMWF solutions bring another cool upper level trough and an
accompanying shortwave down the British Columbia coast Friday.
The GFS solutions have a negatively tilted front arriving from
the southwest. Both solutions have a wide variety of results
depending on timing and track of the features. The forecast right
now is a broad brush chance of rain or snow with low snow levels,
around 500 feet. Doubt this forecast survives more than a run or
two before changing. Felton
