CFS and the euro weeklies are still showing a strong GOA ridge/west coast trough signal towards mid-late March into April but snow and cold in the spring doesn't tend to stick around or last too long.
I sense April and May being mostly showery and chilly.

Re: February 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
i recall many snowfalls in April...decades ago living in Coquitlam to Maple Ridge. Of course back then forecasting sucked lol, so most snowfalls that late in season were totally unexpected. But i remember 2 distinct events, both bringing 3-5cms of not too sloppy snow. Another early season one brought 2" of snow one October..around the 30th i think. Then one time it was snowing briefly on May 25 i believe in Vancouver by the PNE
Looks rainy and mild..not many people on here i guess. Understood.

That late January early February 1989 arctic blast was really something else. Prince George went from -0.2C to -18.1C in just 5 hours.

Re: February 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
Yes the cold in January 89 was building up north and then by the end of the month the mechanism was in place to bring it south through SW B.C. and it blastsed south no pineapples could stop that baby. We also had a couple more re loads and snowfalls that month.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 11:41 pm That late January early February 1989 arctic blast was really something else. Re: February 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
Ok season for the mountains considering the pineapples and ridging we have seen most of the winter. However, a sad end to a sad (LN they said) season with the incoming pineapples this week and next

Congratulations EC for the rainfall warning!

Their forecasts are getting worse and worse... A true joke.

There are signs of a cooldown with a -PNA but that Hudson/NWT vortex isn't getting dislodged. No strong amplification over GOA either.
5 degrees below normal by mid March when average temps are 11C and lows are 5C. I suspect we are going to see a ton of cool rain with some fringe snowfalls up at SFU/Westwood Plateau.
