Looking forward to next winter, even if we get a fairly strong El nino, can it be any worse than this winter? Considering how the previous winter we ended up with a really nice snowfall?
That could be a run of three really sad Winters in a row. Minus 7 Days of cold and somewhat snowy weather which is all we got for the last two Winters
This wasn’t close to the worst especially in your backyard. First half of Feb was a very nice event. If it was earlier in the winter, obviously way more ideal.

LOL, when will people learn? It is March, it is below 300 m, and I am around. As I keep saying, given those conditions, it can’t snow. It simply can’t.
I knew with absolute certainty it would not snow last night, and it didn’t. Easiest forecast ever.
It snowed last March in the Banana Belt. March snow is NOT uncommon at all.

This looks pretty uncommon to me
Low snowfall average does not equate snowfall is uncommon. Case in point, many locales in the far north have low snowfall averages but many snowy days. It just doesn't amount to much.
Look back at past YVR data and see how many March's have had snowfall.

l found growing up in Vancouver either we had the occasional winter where the cold/snow came easy but often it was difficult to get the right ingredients. Unlike east of the Rockies where cold/snow has no problem sliding south from the Arctic.

wow..impressive run in the 2000's, but then blanked many years since 2010. I was going to say i think i remember a snowy March around 15 years ago..and there it is. (must have been 2002).Thx Gooseman!
But this is YVR, the warmest place in the LM. Other snowzones prolly scored much better given the marginal temps in most cases
edit: oops, i meant around 25 years ago

March 2002 was pretty cold and very snowy. Had snow on the ground for an extended period of time. I believe 850mb temps dropped below -10c.
Ski conditions were epic at Cypress the last 2 evenings. The snow is a bit heavy at the bottom but I was still going through up to knee deep snow in places and the snow was coming down pretty hard all evening. Cypress should be able to open the Raven chair for spring break.
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!
ABSOLUTELY INSANE SNOWFALL TODAY! I think today will go down in history as the wettest March day on record in Vernon. Previous record from 1907 was 20.3 mm. May stations in the Vernon area are above that now. Wundermap shows precip in cm. Lots of cars in the ditch from the snow. eg: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1BRMhPuBfQ/

You could tell today was looking great. Chilly upper levels and many, many troffy clouds. Now the radar is blowing up. Mtns receiving a serious pumbling of snow this week with the lower snow levels and instability...amazing spring conditions with heavy snow, followed by sun breaks and warmer temps, possibly popping above 0c.
