Snow is rare in April, not in March.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 14, 2025 9:27 am People keep saying it doesn't snow in March.
We do see a ton of wet snow showers, hail and graupel. It just doesn't seem to accumulate anymore, especially at sea level.
Tonight looks good for areas above 400m.

Re: March 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
I once saw it snowing near the PNE in May believe it or not. I was shocked
..maybe May 5 or 25 iirc. Around 24 years ago..it switched over from rain showers to wet snow briefly..not slushy snow. Full on snow. It was crazy. The 850's musta been legit frigid that day
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++

Re: March 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
Anything less than 10 percent is rare, IMO. But remember, growing up and living in Richmond or downtown Vancouver is different than the valley, especially in March. Maybe because March snowfalls never stick? But it's just rare to me. I don't even remember the last time I saw wet snow in March? My memory is failing me at the moment.
But it's also another question: do we consider a brief 30-minute snow shower with zero accumulation as snow in March? What's considered snow in March? Because if it's brief, wet snow, that doesn't count in my books.

I believe the forecast for Pitt Meadows is for the NE Metro Vancouver geographical zone, so likely upper Maple Ridge, Burke Mountain, Westwood Plateau, etc.Hawk wrote: ↑Fri Mar 14, 2025 6:10 am Ec for Pitt Meadows:

Re: March 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
April 1972 stands out for me l was living in Vancouver west 16th and Larch we received 5cm of wet snow. Very cold air moved in YVR reported thunder as cold air aloft moved in rain turned to snow l remember we got an inch or so skies cleared temps dropped to just below freezing followed by more moisture by morning and more wet snow before turning to rain later in the afternoon.
