Socially, in general, yes.

Fiscally, at least in the past, tended more to the left. Think back to people like Moe Sihota.

From what I can (anecdotally) tell, the immigration/international students/TFW mismanagement over the last 10 years has lurched many within the community, both those who are also immigrants themselves but been settled here for decades, alongside those who are Canadian born to the right. That may be temporary, but it's definitely a reality for now.

Mark Carney may yet lose the election on this issue. Before Trump threatened us it was going to be the big issue of this election.

And now we are in two trade wars. Canada decided to put a 100% tariff on Chinese electric cars (even though there are no Chinese made electric cars in the Canadian market) and now China is retaliating by imposing 25% tariffs on the stuff we DO sell to China in YUGE quantities, canola, wheat, etc.

So Canadian farmers have their two largest markets on earth smashing them in the nuts at the same time!

She is of the JK Rowling type of feminist. Takes umbrage with everyone who can't define a woman. For most it's kinda cringe, but obviously she's running for a party who will be likely to get 3% of the vote so needs to find some sort of gimmick to get attention, especially in East Vancouver, basically the most left-leaning riding in Canada.

I don't understand the obsession with with getting to 100,000,000 people in Canada. By 2100 China will be down to 700,000,0000, BTW, and global population will have long since stabilized (global population is expected to peak in 2080). It's so weird.

We did the 100% tariff mainly to appease the US auto industry. Now that the US has given us the middle finger, we should drop the tariff on Chinese vehicles.

It's hard to deny that Carney seems to have the momentum at the moment... how that translates at the ballot box remains to be seen.

One thing that might be hurting Poilievre is slogans like "axe the tax" and "Canada is broken", which come across as Trumpian to many voters. Poilievre is a very good speaker, but he needs to stay as far away from the Trump-like rhetoric as possible.

Carney should be worried about the debates because there's a good chance that Poilievre will slaughter him, but Poilievre could also sabotage himself if he's not careful.

Carney is more soft-spoken, which some may perceive as a weakness, but others might view as more statesman-like. Unlike Poilievre (or Trudeau), Carney is also viewed as an intellectual -- the opposite of Trump.

While I could be wrong, I actually think there's a chance that Trump will quit the 51st state non-sense if Poilievre wins. Right now, he is just having fun making fun of Canada for supporting the Liberals. This is why I believe he endorsed Carney. Ultimately, he wants Poilievre to win but he knows that if he endorses him, Liberals will vote for Carney because they don't want anyone who they think may even somewhat align with Trump. It would simply make Canada a laughing stock to reelect the Liberals for another term and I think Trump would play off that. Honestly, I just have no idea why anyone would trust the Liberals to be fiscally responsible. Seriously, Carney is planning to impose a carbon tax on our steel on top of the 25% tariff Trump put on it while simultaneously condemning Trumps unjustified trade war. He's tricking Canadians by switching from a consumer carbon tax to an industrial one, when in fact consumers will still pay for the industrial tax. Not to mention, he signed a fake document claiming to have ended the consumer carbon tax when in reality it wasn't even a legal document. And yet people still want to vote for him? Makes no sense to me.

I do agree. I agree he's good at public speaking. Trudeau was also good at public speaking. Pollievre has a combination of slogans and actual policy ideas, though the trouble has been that the Liberals partnered with the NDP and didn't need to work with Conservatives until the last few months. That's why we're heading to the polls now, because the NDP no longer are willing to work with the Liberals.
