Re: Politics

Post by Abby_wx »

The past 7 days have been pretty bad for the Liberals. Lots of missteps. A couple of recent polls are showing basically a tie between the Liberals and Conservatives, but most polls are still showing the Liberals in the lead... for now.

Both parties have difficulty pivoting. The Conservatives were unable to pivot when the election became about the tariffs and Canadian sovereignty. Now that Trump appears to be softening on the tariffs, the danger for the Liberals is that the conversation continues to move back to issues like cost of living and crime, which the Conservatives are dominating on.

The post french debate question/answer period was pure gold as right wing rebel news outfoxes CBC and other mainstream media  , love it. No soft ball questions for Carney or Singh. Carney was asked his thoughts on Trudeau at the helm  , and Singh looked stupid by refusing to answer. Carney once again reiterated that he shares the same values as Justin..

I hate to say it but I think there's a good chance the Liberals will win a majority this time around. Whether one agrees with it or not, the election focus has shifted to Trump and Liberal/NDP voters don't trust the Conservatives. What will likely happen is that Carney will win a majority and inflation will continue to sky rocket and our economy will be further damaged. Then come next election, the Republicans will likely lose big time to the Democrats. At that point, we won't have Trump to contend with and as a result, the focus for Canadians will likely shift away from foreign affairs and assuming Poilievre stays on as leader, the Conservatives will likely win a big majority. But I could be wrong. After all, the Liberals haven't won yet. While I do expect the results to be closer than what the polls are currently showing, I'd be quite surprised if they were wrong by a margin large enough for the Conservatives to win. However, the good news is that Poilievre's rally's have been very impressive in terms of the crowd numbers. Based on that one variable, one would think that the Conservatives were in the lead or in the very least, that the election was closer than what the polls are indicating.

Of course they did, same with CTV and CBC, not a surprise when they're all in bed together with the liberals.

Like I said, I could be wrong. I'm just trying to prepare myself for disappointment. Seriously, I hope I'm wrong. I want a big Conservative majority.

Poilievre did well in the debate and the odds have narrowed slightly, but will it be enough? Carney did fine for a novice politician and likely won't lose much support.

Any idea what the polls were showing in 2015 ? No doubt this is a much different ball game with the NDP and Bloq collapse.

Just came back from my polling station , was turned back upon 8:15 arrival, estimating they couldn't get us in. After being busy all day , I thought it would've been slow at this time. Apparently lineup was a couple blocks long at one point.
