Re: April 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
This has been such a great week with warm weather and sunshine that the thread is relatively quiet. Tonight is apparently another chance at seeing northern lights.

Thank you Mr. Cmen69 for your in depth analysis l don't mind the nice weather but 27c for the central valley on Friday is absolutely absurd for the end of April.Coquitlam79 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 8:15 pm The 12z Euro showing some solid rainfall amounts next week with onshore flow. I miss the days of prestine blue sky. It seems like we now see smog and haze build up whenever we get into high pressure.

Re: April 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
I have a vivid memory of being in one of those plastic swimming pools in the 80's and looking up at the sky. It was so deep blue it actually looked purple. That effect was probably a bit exaggerated, but I also looked at some old pictures I have and the sky seemed much deeper blue than it does today. The sky always seems to have that milky look nowadays, except for a few times during the winter when it actually clears out completely. But we rarely seem to get cloudless skies with our arctic outbreaks nowadays.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 8:20 am I miss the days of prestine blue sky. Re: April 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
I recall living at Victoria Dr. and E. 64th ave the summer skies were milky but due to all the industries pumping smoke out along the Fraser river stretch back then afew mills dotted the banks of the mighty Fraser river. If you go back and look at the observations for YVR late 60's they observed smoke quite often.Abby_wx wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 11:37 am I have a vivid memory of being in one of those plastic swimming pools in the 80's and looking up at the sky. Re: April 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
Prior to the 1970s, smoke & haze during the summertime was also oftentimes due to wildfires in the interior.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 4:00 pm I recall living at Victoria Dr. and E. 64th ave the summer skies were milky but due to all the industries pumping smoke out along the Fraser river stretch back then afew mills dotted the banks of the mighty Fraser river.
