Cloudy with spotty moderate showers north of Fort St John (pic # 1) through to Buckinghorse River (pic # 2) with cool temps hovering around 12c. Cleared up with mostly sunny conditions further to the north, however, smoke also settled in past Prophet River (pic # 3) through to Fort Nelson (pic # 4), with warmer temps around 24c. Periodic charred forest landscape from a mix of large and small fires during the past few years is visible throughout the drive along Hwy 97 between Fort St John and Fort Nelson (pic # 5).

Isn't it awesome how they clear the trees 100 feet on ether side of the road! It has probably saved hundreds of lifes (human and wildlife) and missions of dollars in car damage! One has to be much more careful on the Cassiar highway because trees are closer to the edge of the road so moose and such can dash out rather quickly!

Here are some of my Alaska highway pics from last week...

It's just amazing the variety of weather you can encounter on a road trip in a day. It appears to be a coolish summer in the far north this year. I hope it's a sign of things to come this winter Tcool l don't think it's been a non stop scorcher like some years.

Does anyone else have fog in their forecast? Isn't that rare for July?

Today was pleasant with a high of 27.1 but that was brief, not sure why but the temp at Wilson Creek shot up to 27.1c after it was dropping from the high two hours before. It was sandwiched between 25.5 the hour before and 23.3 the hour after.

No fog for the central valley desert. Usually once late August hits early morning fog patches can occur during the longer nights.
