Great pictures! I only saw a few flashes to the east yesterday.
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!

Missed the cinnamon buns, but did make a stop at the hot springs... saw a moose pretty close to the boardwalk.

Re: July 2025 Forecasts and Discussion
Nice! we drove 8000km and only saw one live moose (3 dead from traffic), and that was near near Liard (about 20km toward the Yukon).
In other news, we had a lot of rain this week in the Okanagan. 25 mm during the rainstorm yesterday night.

This month seems to continue to be relatively tame. There's even hints of rain at the end of the month.

Mainly sunny on Monday between Dease Lake and Terrace. Hottest day of the season with a heat warning for most of northwestern BC. Afternoon temps peaked around 32-33c in Terrace.

Nice pics! Different views heading south on the Cassiar vs. north. Is the hill out of the Stikine still under construction? I hit a bump on that hill really hard that probably means I should get a wheel alignment.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 12:26 am Mainly sunny on Monday between Dease Lake and Terrace. What's the purpose of your trip? You forgot to take the Demster highway! I've driven up to Yukon 4 times and still no Demster for me. Next time!

Re: July 2025 Forecasts and Discussion
Noticed lots of minor construction throughout the highway... mostly to repair some pretty major potholes, however it did look as if other parts were recently paved. It's definitely in a lot worse shape than Hwy 97.Glacier wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 6:44 am Nice pics! Different views heading south on the Cassiar vs. north. Trip was just a vacation but didn't have enough time to check out everything as I had to get back yesterday and drove home from Prince George. First time in Yukon but spent only two days in Whitehorse unfortunately, otherwise heading up further north to Dawson City or east to Yellowknife would've definitely been part of the itinerary.
Back to the local weather... currently 19c in east Coquitlam.

Re: July 2025 Forecasts and Discussion
The province is YUGE! I have been up there 4 times and still not enough time to take everything in. Government of Canada takes care of highway 97 north of Fort St. John to the Yukon border and BC government takes care of the rest of the highway in BC. Cassiar is in much better shape than last time I was on it 10 years ago. I wish they'd clear the trees along the Cassiar like on the Alaska highway.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 9:31 am Noticed lots of minor construction throughout the highway... mostly to repair some pretty major potholes, however it did look as if other parts were recently paved. Dawson is worth the trip. Crazy how many buildings were built in the 1800s! LONG hours of light, much more than in Whitehorse!
The worst highway is between Kluane Lake and Tok Alaska. Not because they don't put huge amounts of money and effort into it, but because the permafrost is always twisting the roads.
They have installed lots of thermosyphons trying to stop this from happening.
