Tornado warning by Vanderhoof! I am in a restaurant in Prince George and everyone has emergency alerts coming in on their phones.

Re: August 2025 Forecasts and Discussion
There were some more clouds like that today. I saw one as I was driving back to Vanderhoof. I went mountain biking in PG after lunch and it was nice for a bit. At the top of the mountain on our second run we heard the thunder and it started pouring just as we got to the car. Perfect timing!SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Sun Aug 17, 2025 1:32 pm Last night my friend in P.G. got hit hard here's a pic of the wall cloud b4 the thunderstorm hit Ty my man.FB_IMG_1755457854451.jpg

Once mid August hits those super hot spells are mostly behind us. It cools down nicely at night. EC has Abbotsford dipping down to about 13 or 14 C at night at the end of the run.

Spending time in Toronto, 30°C here doesn't bother me as much as it used to. When it hits 33°C in Toronto, it always feels close to 42°C with humidity, which is super uncomfortable. Happy to enjoy Vancouver weather now.

I'm glad to see that the Tornado warning was rescinded shortly after it was issued yesterday. They had a landspout earlier this year as well.

Re: August 2025 Forecasts and Discussion
Southern Ontario can feel like Florida at times in terms of heat and humidity. The big difference is that in Ontario it comes in waves that only lasts a few days to a week at a time. Florida, on the other hand, experiences hot and humid conditions every day for around 4-5 months of the year.Weather101 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 6:48 am Spending time in Toronto, 30°C here doesn't bother me as much as it used to. Re: August 2025 Forecasts and Discussion
Even during the shoulder seasons, Ontario's humidity is way more noticeable than here. Been to Toronto in May and September before and on both occasions, temps were only between 25c and 30c, but the humidity was noticeable as soon as you walked outside from the airport. Clammy hands and even that distinct tropical smell. I don't recall ever feeling like that here in BC, except perhaps on a few rare occasions.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 2:49 pm Southern Ontario can feel like Florida at times in terms of heat and humidity. Must be pretty rare, I don't remember any occasions that felt like Montreal, the hazy cloud filtered sun days were deadly.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 4:17 pm Even during the shoulder seasons, Ontario's humidity is way more noticeable than here. Re: August 2025 Forecasts and Discussion
I visited Chicago and Toronto in August of 2002 and got to experience such heat and humidity for the first time in decades. Brought back old memories as a kid in Illinois.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 4:17 pm Even during the shoulder seasons, Ontario's humidity is way more noticeable than here. One memory of that trip was waiting for a bus on a Chicago street corner for 10 minutes and ending up thoroughly drenched in sweat. That is all I did. Exit an air-conditioned store, walk a dozen steps to the bus stop and wait. At about 10:00 PM at night.
Their heat waves are a totally different animal from our heat waves.
It's called clown range for a reason.
