Re: September 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
Even though the surface air quality is better today, the sunlight is dimmer due to thicker smoke aloft.
Looking towards the mountains, it seems the smoke is thicker above about the 500 m level.

Almost 39°C in Lytton but 24°C in Kamloops...
29.2°C in Braeburn, new September record for Yukon. Dozens of monthly records broken.

Re: September 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
Should be less smoke Friday afternoon if the 00Z HRRR verifies.

Re: September 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
Likely due to the NE flow at the 850mb level bringing in smoke from the Coquihalla wildfire.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 4:59 pm Even though the surface air quality is better today, the sunlight is dimmer due to thicker smoke aloft.

Yup, 25.8C here. Fairly comfortable, just a touch muggy.
Overall, we dodged a bullet in the valley and Metro Vancouver. Wednesday was the only legitimately hot day. Tuesday was a bit uncomfortable.

Re: September 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
Agreed. The wildfire smoke kept temperatures down. Tomorrow (Friday) might be a couple degrees warmer if there is less smoke. Likley muggy regardless.

Re: September 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
Looks like another day of underperforming temperatures. (Mostly upper level) smoke and clouds are making for no direct sun or shadows this morning.
EC says the smoke should clear tomorrow.
