Hmm. That's not good news then. I skied in 30 ish cm of powder on Monday and it was tough because the icy underlayer was still very noticeable when trying to make tight turns.

I still think we've seen years where the March snow train boosted us significantly but then, maybe not. 2018 was a huge snowpack after April and it kind of melted completely in that hot May and the fire season exploded.

It just has to be a constant pattern of zonal flow, which is a pattern get seems to be non existent at this point. Cannot get it to stick for more than a day or two.

Great winter for the Peace Region. Snowiest December on record for some locales. Top tier cold for the far northern reaches as well during the month, like the Yukon.

Increased precip this winter will definitely help put a dent in the long term drought up there, especially when the snowpack begins to melt.

Even though it hasn't quite reached down to sea level this winter, the local mountains are looking much better than they were two winters ago, but the avalanche risk is absurd at the moment.

Update from the Mt. Baker ski area: Reported snow through Feb. 27, 2026, for the winter season is at 348". That is much better than the 2014-15 El Niño season, which totalled 303" the whole winter.

In addition, the Mt. Baker ski area has the deepest snow base of all North American ski areas!

My weekend, Friday evening skiing, Saturday mountain biking and Sunday paddleboarding. I think I pulled off the classic west coast weekend of activities.

Nice photo. I joined in and biked the Mud Bay Dyke. Was warm with very little wind at the water. Let’s hope this spring weather continues with the odd break for mountain snow pack.

Nice photos. Big news from the BC Government about the time change. Next Sunday will be our final time switch. We won't get dark before 5 PM anymore on the south coast in the Winter.

Spring forward next weekend for the last time. No more fall back. BC is going to remain on Daylight Savings Time. Darker winter mornings and later light afternoons. I might end up leaving for work slightly later in the winter to keep one bike ride in the daylight or leave earlier so I can get the afternoon commute in daylight. I wonder if schools will adjust the schedule just a bit so kids can go to school in the daylight in the darkest periods of the winter?
