Classic AR where regions with strong orographic lift really tap into the heaviest moisture. Coquitlam does really well in these setups given its location near the mountains. Top tier AR's with 70-100mm daily totals are somewhat rare in Abbotsford but they definitely do happen from time to time. February 1982, November 1990, October 2003, January 2005, November 2006, November 2021, October 2024, and December 2025 are some examples I can think of off the top of my head. Those AR's either had an extreme moisture content with them and or they took the precise SW to NE trajectory to bypass the typical rain shadow. That said, this has still been decent AR here. While my daily totals are run of the mill and nowhere near the above analogs, the long duration of this event is notable. I'm now at 127.3mm since Sunday. Looks like one more round of heavy rain tonight.

I'll update my storm totals when it's all said and done Friday afternoon.

It looks like we survived the great AR event of March 2026 relatively unscathed

Certainly a huge discrepancy between southern regions of Metro Vancouver and northern regions of Metro Vancouver with this event.

Overflowing creeks and rivers and a couple mud/landslides here as ~300mm has fallen over a five day period. Top tier March rainstorm! :alert: :raindrip:

Based on the city gauge at Poirier, we received around 240mm of rain this week.

Min 14.4°C in Osoyoos, close the April record [15.3°C]! However, it won't hold until 11 pm, end of the climatological day.

Min 9.7°C in Vancouver yesterday, 8th highest in March, after 2nd highest [10.3°C] the day before.
Min 10.4°C last night would have been the 2nd highest March min but it won't hold until 11 pm.
