Trough digs too far south and quickly ejects eastward. Looks like most potential for wet snow and hail will occur within the PSCZ that develops later. Could still see some rouge cells develop over the LM today for a mix of precip.

Rouge cells, as in Red radar returns..that would be cool and also as good some rogue cells which is what u prolly meant
Either way would be a good score…hopefully
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++ 8-)

ECs forecast has missed the troffy effects unfortunately.
Snow pellets in Whistler and the Similks catching flakes at 0c. EC called for rain showers for both locations, but instead we are seeing snow at noon.

Mid April in Calgary.

Snowfall warning issued by Environment Canada:
10:03 AM MDT Wednesday 15 April 2026

Impact Level: Moderate

Forecast Confidence: High

Heavy snow is expected to develop later today.

This snow event will continue through Thursday for parts of central and southern Alberta, with total amounts of 15 to 30 cm. Locally higher amounts are possible.

Snow will begin by the early afternoon over the foothills and spread eastward this evening. Precipitation could begin as rain for some regions before quickly changing to snow.

Poor visibility due to blowing snow is also possible in some areas tonight and Thursday morning.

Snow will end Thursday evening.

Travel will likely be challenging. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility will likely be reduced at times.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If driving, turn on your lights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ABstorm@ec.gc.ca, call 1-800-239-0484 or post reports on X using #ABStorm.

In effect for:

City of Calgary
Central Abbotsford

A colourful day over Southwestern BC! Lots of convection with a few lightning strikes likely. I ran into some decent sized hail near Cobble Hill.

Snowfall warning issued by Environment Canada:
Similks and Calgary weather are quite similar..back side of the Coastal range and backside of the Rockies. From the teens and sunny in the Spring, to cold and snow 2 days later. Big swings. Both also get snow late into the year, May for sure, even June sometimes.
