Classic case of the "two steps forward, one step back" with the models today. We'll be fine. First half of the month is looking chilly and active with some chances at low elevation snows.

While the 0z GFS was nice to look at... realistically, I don't think anyone (on this forum at least

) was expecting an arctic blast during the first couple weeks of the month.

Delayed ridge merger leads to more energy pushing that ridge a tad bit west in the NPAC. More of an overwater trajectory. Cool with copious Mountain snow next weekend.

Bit worried if the trough merges with the Kona low. We may be looking at an AR event.

FWIW, the GFS looked similar at this time. Some wet snow possible throughout the lower mainland Friday night. Could actually end up being A decent event for those inland and/or above ~150m in elevation.

It's just two operational. Could well be bad luck. GFS ensembles are still good, and I expect the EPS to be as well.

3 ways to look at it either we end up what's shown now which is something interesting at least. Or it trends colder again or warmer. I'll take my chances with the 2 out of 3 cooler/colder solutions.
