Reviewing the last 8 hours on radar it looks like the intensity of the storm was just shredded to death once it hit Vancouver Island. So not much moisture even made it here. Well, this is ok since it will help us maintain our snow cover.

Well, it busted bad. Always such a disappointment for the metro area. Coming out of cold snaps we don't even get a huge overrunning event anymore. Oh well, we need a break from this now.

I had about 1 cm of snow last night.

Thursday was the overrunning event. Cold air was scoured out along the I5 corridor and in the Interior.

A lot of things went wrong if you wanted snow.
1) Had some sunshine yesterday morning warm up the lower levels and the clouds trapped the warmth.
2) SE winds up to 925mb really started blowing and resulted in dry downsloping winds eating up the moisture. 3) 850mb temps 925mb warmed up faster than modeled. Modeled to be -4 and -1. It's -1 up at 825mb and +2 at 925mb.

EC has their typical anus approved forecast appearing after every cold spell. Rain for a week.

Models have really trended wetter and milder next week the past few runs. In fact the jet stream is consolidated and aimed just due north.

Lots of rain on the local Mountains tonight through Wednesday and Thurs to next weekend. No extreme AR but a persistent snow-eating SW flow. Rivers will super high next week with all the melting below 1500m.

Plenty of snowpack on all the mountains. No biggie. We'll get there again, hopefully in February. Right now I don't mind if it melts, I want to get back to playing soccer next week. What other Canadian city has their soccer season scheduled in winter (There can only be one anus)
