Environment Canada was also way off about yesterday and today. I sometimes wonder if professional meteorologists read too much into the data. I took a few mins and looked over the models yesterday and had no idea why a winter storm warning was issued. I was very surprised that WeatherPro was also going all in on a snowstorm. Models looked dry. Of course you could read a bunch of stuff into the data and disagree with the direct model output, but thats risky in my opinion. While you don't want to make a forecast by merely copying the the direct model output, the model output should be a guide. If they all are showing us staying dry, then why issue a winter storm warning?

By the way, this is nothing personal against Environment Canada meteorologists or WeatherPro. They are very smart, and have much more experience, training, and knowledge than I do. I'm just pointing that perhaps sometimes too much knowledge can lead to over complicating the forecast, and then having it bust. Just my opinion.

I agree with your analysis for sure.

One thing I would point out is that Weather Pro was being a lot more aggressive with snowfall chances and sustained cooler weather than EC. So while EC was also wrong, Weather Pro was much further off the mark.

I know you're trolling but I'm happy with this. Melt the snow, I hate the slop anyways. We'll get cold again at some point, maybe even get a fresh supply. If not we can go into spring knowing your forecast busted this winter again and we got a short but incredibly exciting winter event, and finally broke our January curse

We have about 60cm on the ground right now but hard to tell with the wind blowing it around. Still snowing heavily, -7.4c DP -8.4c. The picture doesn't do it justice, the snow is sideways

Yeah, same here. I got 4 cm last night, but my total depth had barely increased from yesterday. 14 cm was the highest depth I recorded for this event.

The melt is on... +0.5C now.

I know some may be thinking split flow ... remember models were showing split flow before and we just had a nice stretch of cold n snow.
