We cracked a dent in our January curse earlier this year but I wouldn't go as far to say we got over it.

YVR still hasn't dipped to -10C in January since 2004, hasn't had a mean temp below 1C during the month since 1993 and hasn't recorded a daily snowfall over 20cm in Jan since 2002.

Sorry about all the downtime guys. It was really messy. The host was doing some upgrades yesterday evening and that messed things up, then I tried to fix it by upgrading to the latest version of phpBB which messed it up even more! The host seems to have fixed it now.

Is it possible to have a facebook page, or something, where we could get updates if the site is down? I was worried it was gone again and we didn't have a backup in place, and I'm not on the 'other' weather site so no way to find out what was going on if it was down permanently.

Yesterday the EC forecast for this upcoming week looked good. Mostly sunny, highs mid twenties. Awesome.

that's what I wanted to know! this morning was sun all week now 2 days of rain in the middle of it all

Canada Goose- Ok that's good, thanks. I dunno, I feel like I just have rain PTSD from EC's forecast icons, LOL. Like seeing that dumb clouds with rain icon on numerous days just creates visceral reaction as if it is November and not June. And although it looks like a small amount of rain like you said, the POP is 60 percent for Tuesday which my brain associates with a fairly cloudy and rainy day. But if it's 60 percent chance of light rain for about an hour that equals 2mm and then it clears out, that's a whole lot different than 60 percent chance of rain that equals 2 mm spread out all day with drizzle and low clouds. THIS is where just looking at a daily forecast can be depressing.

In a sauna, the heat is (extremely) dry (80-110C with RH<20%). It's in a hammam where the heat is humid (45C with RH>90%).
But today was not a humid day in the East (dew points were between 12C and 17C). This is nothing.

West of the Rockies -> dry heat.
East of the Rockies -> humid heat.

It's really interesting how the Rockies seems to divide the humid from the dry so well. We also see this in the minimum daily temperatures (dry air gets a lot colder at night obviously). You have Fort St. John and Princeton at the same elevation, but Princeton is colder at night in July. Yes, I know, Fort St. John airport is on top of a hill, so it gets warmer nights than the surrounding locations, but still, when you're over 1000km to the north, you shouldn't be warmer at night on average.

Even when we think of the hottest places in BC like Osoyoos and Ashcroft and Lytton, the ONLY reason their nights are warmer than places in Alberta at the same latitude is that they are so much lower in elevation.
