Climate data for a few locations from December '71...
Vancouver: https://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_d ... 1&Month=12#

Pitt Meadows: https://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_d ... itt+polder

Abbotsford: https://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_d ... Abbotsford
That was a solidly cold December January combo.

Oh I know, but this one sure looks and feels more completely tropical than the others, which are semi-tropical hybrid mid-latitude cyclones.

Apparently 1 or 2 of these hit per year. However, with climate change more are expected as the waters warm.

"This type of storm, often called a "medicane" (Mediterranean + hurricane), has features similar to hurricanes and typhoons. Medicanes can form over cooler waters and usually move from west to east, whereas hurricanes move from east to west."

https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/17/weather/ ... index.html

Sure looks tropical though.

Looks like southern Oregon even gets some of this rain. Hopefully it goes to California as well.

12z euro looks much less impressive with moisture. Just a typical showery night in store.
