The GFS continues to be adamant about the relative suckage. We keep seeing glimpses of hope only to have them laughed off by the druncle.

Would it be correct to say we want a -PNA, -NAO and +EPO to get cold here? And do WPO and AO affect us as well? Asking for a friend.

We need the EPO to be negative as well. That's what amplifies the GOA ridge.

-AO = High latitude blocking. Increases the chances of arctic blasts into the midlatitudes.

An extreme example of -PNA/-NAO/-EPO/-AO is January 1969. A month we all know pretty well...

What we really need is a whole bunch of good luck... and that’s hard to find lately.
