Yes i noted this a few days ago...Europe in the ice box. Weird how these semi tropical areas in the world can score snow like this, while we mightily struggle. Let's face it, our climate really sucks for snow..i mean we are at the butt end of the damp, wet, warm ocean. Re: January 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
This was predicted by climate scientists. Killing off arctic sea makes the jet stream weaker, therefore pinching it off at times and sending cold to places like even the Sahara while leaving traditionally cold areas high and dry. But to be fair, we’re on a 4 year roll for scoring at least something good and if you’re a betting man, you would bet on this year as well. Things are shaping up nicely for the period of Jan 25th or so until at least February 5-10.Hawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 4:39 pm Yes i noted this a few days ago...Europe in the ice box. The good news for some sick twisted freaks is that any hope of a dry spell is gone with recent model runs. Now presenting weak ridging with warm advection rains! Cloudy, mild and drippy...

GEFS looks like it’s going to start trying to retrograde the ridge around day.
FYI, Madrid isn’t exactly tropical in the winter. Although they don’t get a lot of heavy snowfall, their average temperatures during winter aren’t much different than say NW Oregon.
