Wind is really ramping up in Greater Victoria and should reach borderline warning criteria. No warnings yet though.

I did receive a small accumulation of wet snow overnight.

No snowfall warning or special weather statement issued. Expect 10-15cm by the morning followed by a Snowfall Warning by noon when it clears out and reaches +8C.

Very possible but the good news is that we are still 2 weeks out. Still plenty of time for the models to shift colder for the PNW.

I should add that the GFS did not slowly trend towards a West Coast Ridge. The past two runs were actually a complete flip from the runs prior to that, which showed arctic air. Looks to me like a sudden collapse, not a slow trend.

I still think this will work out in our favour despite the sudden GFS collapse. But I may have to refine my forecast if trends keep going in this direction.

Good for you for staying positive. The EPS got cooler in that timeframe. Needs to trend a lot colder though to get arctic. Personally...I dunno. It’s just maybe not our year. But if we get a mid February blast, bring it. Anything else like northwest flow can shove it. Bring on the sunshine.

Sun is peaking through with some blue sky but still some flurries happeneing and now a bit of outflow winds. Snow we got last night is still on trees slowly melting now but not as quickly as it did the other day. Why is is that Squamish stays colder than Vancouver? Legit question I honestly dont know why?

My working theory has always* been that it’s all about the outflow.

* Well, ever since looking at a map and thinking “Hmmm, I bet Squamish gets significantly more snow than Vancouver, because that topography sure looks favorable for outflow from the interior.” (Then I checked the climate stats and discover my suspicion was correct.)
