Ya the models still haven’t resolved the placement or amplification of the NPac block as we get into early February. As long as we still have blocking over the NPac and we can keep that Aleutian Low at bay, things could trend better as we head into early/mid February. Besides, February always seems to always deliver for us as of late so maybe we’ll get some surprises again this year.

I’m just holding out hope that i’ll see more than a dusting of snow this winter...i thought we would at least score a few cm’s of slush this week but we couldn’t even manage that

^ The big jump in January averages was from the 1971-2000 normals to the 1981-2010 normals.

I'm kinda surprised mean temps haven't risen with the new normals, but January snowfall has undoubtedly declined yet again.

By the 2050s minimum temperature is projected to be 4.5°C warmer in Winter than average minimum temperature in the base period (1971-2000) according to global climate models (GCMs). Mean minimum temperature increases in the region are projected to be 3.4°C, 3.3°C and 3.2°C in Fall, Spring and Summer, respectively. All GCMs agree that warming will be greatest in Winter. The mean maximum daily temperatures by the 2050s are projected to increase by 3.8°C in Winter on average over the greater BC region, with the NE region warming the most.

Pretty strong signal for an amplified ridge into the Aleutians. At least for an ensemble mean. Would like to see it a touch further east though.

Thanks..by then i will likely be dead, if not, then living in some old age home in the Similkameen, where it should be ok. I am already preparing myself for this GW crisis!!!
