From what others here have said (apologies, don't exactly remember who) the NAM's low placement often leaves much to be desired.Esquimalt39 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 12:57 pm Looks like it's caving to just about everyone else with that low hanging up by Haida Gwaii

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
This run was actually decent for my area (10 inches). But I want to see it further north so that my accumulations are safer and you can score!VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 1:03 pm From what others here have said (apologies, don't exactly remember who) the NAM's low placement often leaves much to be desired.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
It doesn't do well with large scale patterns. However some ECMWF and GFS runs have been hinting towards seeing a split of the energy with the main low going south. Interesting to see the NAM showing this as well.VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 1:03 pm From what others here have said (apologies, don't exactly remember who) the NAM's low placement often leaves much to be desired.

Similar to Dec 21/08.
Looks like ~15-25cm for most of metro van on that map.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I guess that's why Mark Madryga on the noon news was kinda still sitting on the fence, doesn't want to commit to any scenario just yet,but did say that several cm's of snow is probable.

Yeah, this one looks to be improved for them at this point.Esquimalt39 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 1:36 pm The AF guys were saying they only got 6 inches with that one lol.
I think models were a bit overzealous with outflow limiting snow in metro van prior to the Dec 21/08 storm (similar to this one at the moment). YVR still ended up picking up 28cm with the event, including a one day total of 22cm.
Edit: Here's the WRF prediction from just a day before
