When I was in Vanderhoof last summer the entire week that I was there it didn't crack 20c until the last day.

Last summer was pretty bad in central and northern BC. Lots of rain, clouds, and generally no hot temps.

From Atlin to Prince George to Prince Rupert...

Indeed! It always sits on the borderline like it's teasing us. It's disgusting. The cold has really disappeared though. I used to have to walk to school all the time when I was young, and every winter, even if there was no snow, it was cold enough to freeze ponds etc up to 5 inches thick. We had one next to our school that all of us students would go walking and slipping on. NEVER see that any more.

As for the interior, stay out of the Kelowna area. That place is a cesspool of idiots. Go further north, Vernon, Armstrong, Salmon Arm etc..

If I have my way, I will be in PG later this year. Just gotta hope my employer says "ok you can move to PG". That's basically all that is keeping me here.

At the start of winter I thought I was being conservative predicting a 2017/2018 repeat. Well this ended up being that winters ugly stepchild. Somehow, some way everything just goes East. Or in January's case, too far west. And in the weekend's case, South.

These winters happen. Sometimes they happen in clusters. Wouldn't be shocked if the next 3 years blew more chunks.

I guess with climate change you could say that this year was an outstanding one as far as the La Nina prediction goes. The only thing is the outer Coast did not benefit from it but the western parts of British Columbia definitely did. You just had to go past the coast mountains to see the benefits of it. The Similkameens has had well-above-average snows and I believe this month we will add to those totals even more to have quite an outstanding snowpack.
A major concern up here as there's never enough snow pack and then the Lakes won't even fill up during freshet. This year that will not be a problem the Lakes will all be spilling over their wiers

2021-2022. The winter of the mild rains with cold April/May

2022-2023. The winter of ridging and fogversions with cold April/May. Cactus growth in the summer.

2023-2024. The winter of multiple backdoor blasts. Bitterly cold lows of -2C with more -20C dewpoints.
