I'm hoping for some thunderstorms or at least a few decent showers before the big ridge builds in. It's looking like early next week will be the warmest days. It could be dry starting Wednesday until end of the month! This could be one of those years where Canada Day is a scorcher like 2013, 2015. Decent rain since Friday and some areas in Washignton got a good soaker yesterday.
Since Friday YVr has seen more than 20mm and Burke in Upper Coquitlam has received over 40mm.

Somewhat normal life starts tomorrow John were getting there let's hope.

Unfortunately, Osoyoos passed Vancouver by a 1.6 degrees by the end of the day (maxing out at 23.8C). Had Vancouver held on, it would have been a new record. Still, at just 1.6C below the Provincial hot spot on June 10th, is closer than Vancouver has come to the BC hotspot in June that I've ever seen. In 2020 Vancouver was 2.4C behind Bella Colla, and 2012 Vancouver was 2.6 degrees behind Lillooet. That's has close as Vancouver has been to being a provincial hotspot in June prior to the 10th of this month.

Vancouver can definitely be the provincial hotspot, but it has never happened in the summer months. The last time was November 15, 2020 when Vancouver was tied with Lillooet for the highest maximum temperature at 11.6

This is 1 of 11 days since 2004 when Vancouver was the BC hotspot. 5 were in February, 2 in March, 2 in January, and 2 in November.

The warmest day in which Vancouver was the BC hotspot was January 12, 2010 when the temperature was 13.4.

BTW, the 22.2C at YVR on the 10th seems to be flagged and is showing as missing until reviewed. Sea Island, Burns Bog, Vancouver Harbour, etc. were all less than 19 that day.

Thanks for clarifying Icey, yah l kinda wondered if that high on the 10th was suspect. Quality control issues with insturmentation seems rampant at some EC sites it seems.

Good thing is, this ridge doesn't look like a monster. Just a normal, seasonal ridge followed by a cool down towards the beginning of July. Perfect summer weather. Let's keep this going

Agreed... saw a news story on the weekend about what there calling the mega drought in the western U.S. terrible situation going on down there. Seems it's been put on the back burner this last year or so with the pandemic the top news story day after day.

Yep. Its part climate change, part land usage, overpopulation, etc. Its all converging now into this mega-multi year/decade monster drought.

Looks like a cell developed just northeast of Langley then headed northeast through Mission reds and a bit of purple any obs.? from any members. Small cell developed just east of Abby, surprised no ones seen anything tonight, it's trying out there.

Cells certainly developed over Langley all yesterday morning. Bet it was nice and sunny in Vancouver, but noooo we had to go to Langley to play golf because of Vancouver's stupid booking policies.

It's okay. A bad day on the golf course is still better than a good day at the office.

The HRRR gives southern sections a chance this evening. Most stuff stays in the alpine, however.

The NAM sounding gives us a chance considering the lack of much daytime heating. Decently steep lapse rate, surface CAPE and some shear. Although the latter is lacking. Oh well.
