We can handle a 40-45 degree humidex in the valley... it's happened plenty of times, most notably in 2009 when it was between 43 and 45. But I know we've reached 40-42 a couple of times since then.

I think the likeliest scenario at this point is a real temperature of 36-38C and a humidex around 42-43. However, if we do see actual temperatures of 40+C, things could get very nasty.

You can count me out of any of the humid crap Southern Ontario or the SE USA experiences every summer.
Should be pretty humid here, no?

Even 36-38C is uncomfortably hot and reaching record levels, especially for June. This looks to be a memorable heat wave.

Its truly remarkable to see the National Blend of Models showing such extreme heat values. July 2009 definitely comes to mind. :o

You know what's hilarious, Phil was absolutely adamant this would be a troughy period. He had all those simultaneously long and short winded explanations for it. And here we are...the "cool down" keeps getting punted back every single run.

Interesting post by Cliff Mass on his blog, how a tropical depression in the western Pacific has been the catalyst for the amplified pattern (wavy jet stream) that will be pumping up the massive ridge to give us record breaking Temps this weekend. As it moves north it pushed the jet stream causing it to wobble. I'm guessing if this thing weakens faster then it will be slightly less amplified jet stream and a slightly weaker ridge over western NA?

Reached a high of 29.6c today in south Sardis, suffice to say the upcoming heatwave is looking absolutely insane.

Meanwhile the 00Z GFS is still piping HOT this weekend, but then substantially cooler on Monday compared to the 18Z. Still hot though.

I'm gonna say the models are heavily overdoing the heat.

I'd love (and hate since I don't have AC) to see these numbers verify but I don't think it will happen.

It will all fall apart at the last minute, just like our "Arctic" blasts.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays
